Manga Reccomendations.

I wanted to take a look at some of my favourite manga! So let’s take a look at them and the basic plot, maybe you’d like to take a look too at the incredible worlds that await. Here are my top 5 mangas!

Sailor moon, the manga beside a cup of tea both laid upon a table. (Found via Pinterest).

1. Black Butler.

This manga has to be one of my all time favourites. Though I’ve only so far collected 5 of the mangas, there are actually 30 volumes all together! I absolutely love chasing down any manga because once I receive it and read it, it’s an incredible joyful feeling that I never want to get away from.

Black Butler is about a boy, Ciel Phantomhive, and his demon butler, Sebastian Michaelis. Ciel lost his rich and powerful family to a fire, and was captured and tortured for about a month. Ciel wants Sebastian to help him find out who killed his family and seek out revenge after summoning him for help and creating a contract that neither can escape from until Ciels revenge has been met and he finally dies. Its a beautiful manga and a wonderful complex story line and it’s filled with murder mysteries. I’d give this manga a 9/10.

2. Attack on Titan

This is beyond my favourite anime and I will forever hold this close to my heart. I connect with all of the characters so much and there are several plot twists. The story line is complex but comes together so clearly and well its absolutely incredible overall. Attack on Titan is set in a world where humanity lives inside cities surrounded by three enormous walls that protect them from the gigantic man-eating humanoids referred to as Titans; the story follows Eren Yeager, who vows to exterminate the Titans after a Titan brings about the destruction of his hometown and the death of his mother. Many of the characters I relate to and absolutely adore like Eren Yeager, Levi, Mikasa, Sasha, Armin and many more. This manga is being finished on the 9th of April and the anime will be completed and released this winter. It’s definitely a 10/10 for me.

Blue Exorcist.

This is a Dark fantasy manga and it revolves around The story revolves around Rin Okumura, a teenager who discovers he and his twin brother Yukio are the sons of Satan born from a human woman. Rin is the inheritor of Satan’s powers. When Satan kills their guardian, Rin enrolls at True Cross Academy to become an exorcist under Yukio’s tutelage in order to defeat his father Satan. This manga is a great read and the characters are people you can truly get behind and relate to. I mainly relate to Rin due to his clumsy and ambitious personality. I’d give this a 8/10 overall!

Manga truly is an incredible way to admire art and experience an amazing method of escapism. There will be an upcoming article on escapism soon! You deserve to breathe and find a way to find your freedom from your worries.

What to do when you feel knocked back.

My main key of advice here is probably something you’ve heard hundreds of times but it’s true. Do not give in! Don’t stop working on your project, don’t stop writing your story don’t stop what makes you happy because others aren’t taking an interest. It’s time you do something for you this time and if you enjoy doing it then, why stop? You deserve to be happy and you definitely deserve to create something you’re proud of. You shouldn’t let anybody stop you from your creation! I do admit, it leaves you feeling hurt and feeling like you should just stop. But you shouldn’t! You need to rise above and start doing something for you. There will be set backs, and you’ll begin to think if it was a good idea or not. It is, your work is incredible and it’s time you begin to take the steps to believe in yourself and gain your motivation back. But what helps with motivation in these situations? Here’s 3 ways to help you get your motivation back.

Break down your goal into smaller and more manageable steps.

Through this method, you’ll be able to view each individual step you need to complete to reach your overall goal. Write them down! Take a look at the first step and schedule when you can do it, truly focus and before you know it you’ll be checking each step off and believe me when I say that it’s such a satisfying feeling. Through this, you’ll realise that you can do it! You won’t be able to take it on in one try, it may take several but I know you’ll be able to do it. If you view it as one big name without the list then it may seem extremely overwhelming and you won’t be able to see the steps you must take to achieve your overall goal. As well as this, you’ll actually be able to celebrate each step as you complete it! Which, in turn, will help you with motivate yourself.

Be surrounded with supportive people.

You will be your own worst enemy if you surround yourself with people who just don’t care. Why you may ask? Because then you will be filled with the same negative attitude about your work. You’ll begin to believe their negative attitude and not care about yourself. That’s not how it should be! You need supportive friends and family to help you on your bad days when you feel like you can’t do it anymore. When you feel like the work you’ve done isn’t worth it and you’ve wasted time. The truth is that your work is worth it. You have not wasted your time doing something you love. You are worth it and your work is an extension of you. Friends and family should be there to keep you happy and ready to take on the battle of your project. They can be your motivation when you have none and you can be theirs when they feel the same. Surround yourself with supportive people and then you too will begin to be supportive to yourself.

Have a reward system.

This method is a clear way to encourage yourself and help you reach smaller goals to achieve your overall goal. Smaller goals, which include rewards work a treat and help you keep motivated throughout your work. But what would the best reward system be, that wouldn’t continously distract you and make you focus on your distraction more than your work. Some bad examples are reading part a book as your reward or watching a bit of TV. What I personally reccomend is something that you can eat. Maybe a sweet like a jelly baby or even a different food of yours. Or have a larger reward at the end of your goal for the day! That’s when a book or TV etc will come in handy.

Overall, you deserve to be motivated! It’s a hard road ahead to become your most motivated self, but it’s worth the initial struggle. You’ll do amazing things! And don’t give up!

Scripted

What follows is a snippet of my book! A man named Misaki fufills his dream of owning his own coffee shop with his childhood friend, Hio. Through this many tales of people’s lives are known to him, but a tale of his own soon arrives as an extremely rich and popular author chooses his small coffee shop to base his new book on.

Melodies gently rang out through the small yet bustling room with a high pitch chime, seeming to be comforting to many. A soft rumble of chatter accompanied those familiar gentle chimes of the metal Bell as people proceeded to walk in and out of the small cafe. Many treasured this little building of mine, probably because of the warmth it seems to provide and that lingering fresh coffee smell. As soon as you walk in, it hits you. The sound of boiling water, gentle chat, sips and coffee pouring into a China cup. It’s comforting for many, especially me. Why else did I buy this building? I practically built it from the ground up. It cost so much just to get it running, but that didn’t matter to me. What mattered was what became of my dream, as long as it’s running then it’s okay. A chime interrupted my chaotic and boring thoughts, causing my ‘business mode’ to kick in.

“Welcome!” My voice was as bright as usual, the same sparkle in my eyes and excitement running through my body. This was my dream! To own my own cafe and give everybody the safe space they so desperately needed. “How may I help you?” The person before me cracked a small smile, their eyes meeting mine before glazing across the menu rather quickly. People never seemed to waste their time looking through the menu, everybody stayed with what they knew. Nobody tries anything different anymore. Then again – neither do I.
“A Latte, please.” Nodding, I began to get to work, creating a strong coffee and hot milk, combining them both softly as I hummed to myself. When I first opened this café, even though I researched and practiced making all types of coffee – when it was somebody actually ordering it I seemed to panic. However I make so many that I just moved on instinct, I’m simply a natural!

Despite the continuous rumble of the chatter surrounding me, I could only really focus on the warm sounds of the coffee. Smiling, I poured the steaming coffee and milk into the glistening white cup, the sound almost therapeutic. “Thank you.” The man before me hummed, a gentle smile sewn on his lips as he reached for the cup holding his energy for the next few hours. Everybody spoke from script around here, ‘this please’ which was usually followed by a ‘thank you’ and clanks of money falling against the wooden table. I wasn’t fussed though, more conversation then those few words was known to make me flustered. Not a cute and clumsy type where I’d fumble with the jugs and cups, resulting in shattered China. More of a type where my heart rate would Increase to the point where I could feel it against my chest, my Lungs filling with panic as my throat begins to close. Just pure anxiety really.

Taking those coins, I placed them in the till, closing it and allowing a sigh to escape my lips. “You seem a little bummed out.” I let out a laugh, my eyes squinting as the sunlight seemed to glide in from the large windows that scattered the walls yet fit so well like paintings. My small cafe wasn’t surrounded by much, a few other shops but nothing like this – the people who come here genuinely go out of their way for my coffee. It’s an honour to be able to hear those high pitched chimes whenever somebody walks in or take their leave. It means I’m doing a good job. Besides, pretty much everybody is a regular! Apart from this man anyway.
“Ah, it’s nothing!” A blush coated my cheeks, my lungs beginning to fill with empty air. Open conversation was an absolute hell, I didn’t have a script for this and nor did he.

Whats to come?

What I’ve shared with you is simply the beginning of an LGBT+ romance based upon one coffee shop and three characters who have their lives intertwined. I hope you will stick around longer for the finished product! Its still a work in progress but I’m working hard and things are going well overall.

The importance of writing.

The art of writing has always intrigued me in more ways than one. It holds such an important meaning for many of us! It keeps a lot of us sane whilst it takes us away in several different universes, teaching us many things whilst giving us the time of our lives. Many of us may also relate to certain characters or live in certain situations similar to what’s being told. There are so many reasons why writing is so important to not just me, but you too.

Why does writing bring just importance to the world? There are so many reasons for this as books bring people a sense of safety. When reading people get whisked away to a different world and the words you were once reading no longer exist anymore. You’re in the world, it’s almost like watching a movie but in your mind. Its a powerful skill being able to leave reality by reading what the author has written. People leave the world for many reasons some including having a tough time at home, escaping from work and school and just wanting to relax in general. The form of writing is a skill that brings many a lovely sense of peace! You can achieve dreams that you can’t achieve in reality like flying or maybe opening a bakery or a café of your own. Having your own wonderful adventure through the eyes of your comfort character is a feeling nothing can replace.

Writing also has many teaching capabilities like equipping the writer with a larger imagination and quick thinking skills. It takes careful time to also plan and create a good working environment for their book to thrive. Communication skills are also an important aspect of any writer due to being able to speak to their audience about what they may have liked or disliked about the book. Criticism is important to take on but so hard to handle if you’re new to it. It may hurt at first, your work of art being criticised but it makes a better book and creates an author who’s able to understand constructive criticism which is another important skill. Writing also gives the author the opportunity to express themselves through their characters and locations all whilst bringing a great method of escapism to their readers.

Overall, there are many abilities writers posses that show the importance of writing. It allows people to show others who they are through their work along with being an incredible escapism method for others including the author themselves. Im also writing my own book named Scripted and it will be my first book! I’d truly appriciate any feedback from certain snippets and plot explanations I share! Have an incredible day ans be sure to keep writing and reading whenever you can. Give time to yourself!

Written in Lavender.

Hi! My names L and im an aspiring author with many dreams that lay currently untouched. Through this blog, i hope to inspire myself to finish my book and many many more! I will share snippets of my stories and articles throughout this journey. I hope you choose to come along!

Beginning this blog is a big step for me as an individual and as a writer. For a lot of my life I’ve been told by teachers that I have the gift of writing. All through those hundreds of English exams and essays, the creative writing page at the back of every paper – that final question would always give me that grade 6. However, I’ve faced many challenges like being denied my future due to being bad at a certain subject which of course happens to be math.
